I've never been, but I want to.
Does anyone have hotel recommendations? Comp/discount tips?
Spirit Airlines has very cheap round-trip airfare rates from Boston to Newark so I'm fine there. I'm looking to stay Sunday-Thursday next month before March Madness.
Borgata looks to be a very nice hotel but the rates have been too high for my liking so far. I won't spend enough time in the room to justify the cost.
I'm obviously beginning to read up online but so many of these websites are utter trash filled with ads all over the place. It's been tough to weed out the garbage and get to real content.

If you have any harrahs points, you should try reserving through the website and see if you can get comped for most of the week (they've been giving rooms away) --harrahs > showboat > ballys when picking a room -- if you have a car with you and don't mind staying away from the casino , there are also cheap hotels in absecon (a 10-min drive from borgata/harrahs) which are decent enought. As for general comp tips, Dawn Summers is the one to ask.
The waterfront room at Harrah's looks really nice. I don't have any type of comp card through them so what I'll likely do is call them directly and explain how I plan on only playing poker in their casino and I'll ask if there is any discount I can get for this current trip.
Oh Atlantic City. I went about a month ago and stayed at the Hilton. The only casino in AC that has only one or two poker tables (but I had a free room). But here is a secret. Weekends low-limits NL at the Hilton; those are some of the most profitable tables. Players wonder in from the pit and piss money away. Also you within in walking distance to the Trop and other Casinos.
It depends if you plan on going out or just playing poker. You can get your poker fix pretty much anywhere, just feel out the games. Borgata is hands down the nicest Casino in AC. Even if you don't have a room I highly recommend you at least go there and play a night. It is leagues above the other casinos. Also the best looking girls when going out. Also massively over-priced, but they are the best.
